We’ve all experienced the lack of sleep. It always leads to careless and clumsy actions. But what is actually the worst sleep deprived moment of them all?

NOUVELLES BRINGS YOU “MY WORST SABAW MOMENT”
"I was still sleepy when I rode the L.R.T going to school. As I was about to exit the train, I accidentally bumped into someone. Because of this, my right leg fell into the gap between the train and the platform. Someone helped me on my feet. I simply thanked him and pretended as if nothing happened, even though I was already limping.”
–Marc Say, Class 2011
“It was late at night and I was still drafting our plate. I was already sleepy, but I had to finish it. At that time, it was my habit to always sit at the edge of my chair. Suddenly, I fell from it. My chin bumped the table and the next thing I knew, I was already on the floor. It was a good thing I did not get hurt. This incident kept me awake until I finished my plate.”
–Janelle Uy, Class 2011
“It was my first all-nighter. I was studying for a Long Test in Math that was crucial for me. I had to get around 95% in that test to stay in my honors program in college. I was yawning at breakfast and my eyes were droopy. I went into the bathroom, trying to memorize formulas. I then stared at myself through the mirror, wondering, “What was I supposed to do here again?” Confused, I walked out. “Oh, right. Have to brush my teeth,” I thought. I went back, brushed my teeth, calculated some simple calculus equations in my head, and swallowed. I swallowed the toothpaste. It didn’t taste good.”
-Chauncey Chu, Class 2011
“I was groggy because I didn’t get enough sleep the previous night, so on my way home, I fell asleep during the bus ride. When the conductor announced my bus stop, I quickly stood up and pushed my way to the front. Suddenly, the bus driver pulled the breaks and I lost my footing and balance. To save my face from falling, I tried grabbing on to one of the bus seats but ended up grabbing someone and hugging a random stranger in the process and said, “Sorry po di ko po sinsasadya,” while still clinging on to that person. I quickly went down the bus, floor-faced, and refused to make any eye-contact.”
–Hannah Mugol, Class 2011
Now, for the best “sabaw” moments from the Class of 2005!
“I remember opening a package, about the size of the box of a home console system. As I peeled off the wrappings, it revealed a familiar logo bearing the characters “PS4”! My heart was pounding in excitement at the sight of the machine. As I was booting up the system for the first time, I suddenly fell from my chair and then poof! I woke up! It was all a dream!
As I was composing myself, gradually regaining consciousness, I realize that I was not in my room. My body was aching from the awkward position it was in while I was asleep. I rubbed my eyes and was blinded by the brightness of the lights in the room. Weird, I’m in a seated position and there are other people around me. Alas! I realized that I was taking my 1st ever Long Examination in Biochemistry and I fell asleep while answering it! I looked down on my answer sheet and to my horror I did not shade any answers yet. The proctor then announced that there was only half an hour left for the exam, I was frantic and suddenly, adrenaline rushed through my veins! I took out my questionnaire, wiped of a good amount of drool off the first page and answered the questionnaire like a boss! I finished the exam with 5 minutes to spare. As I got out of our examination room, I felt good about the exam and for finishing it like a champ! Ha! 120 items done within 20 minutes! What an awesome feat!
I was so excited when the professor returned the answer sheets! Lo and behold, I got a failing grade. I blame reviewing all night and not getting enough sleep. So kids, choose sleep! Don’t force academic information in your brain when your body is no longer functioning at its peak level. Enough sleep is as vital as studying for an exam!”
